Boy killed in palm tree collapse

An 18-year-old boy was killed while his friend suffered from serious injuries after a palm tree they used as a swing collapsed on them, the Arabic language daily Okaz reported on Saturday.

Both teenagers got on the swing they made from ropes and swayed for a while before the old giant tree faltered and collapsed on them, it said in a report from the southern province of Jazan.

“One of them aged around 18 years died instantly while his friend suffered from serious injuries in the neck and pelvis. He was taken to hospital for treatment,” the paper said.
