A British passenger flying to Saudi Arabia from the Philippines died of heart attack while in the Gulf Kingdom’s air space, prompting the pilot to make an unscheduled landing, newspaper reported on Saturday.

The Briton suffered from the cardiac attack while on board a Saudia flight en route from Manila to King Khaled Airport in the capital Riyadh on Thursday night.

The pilot radioed the airport in the eastern port of Dammam and requested landing after the passenger died, the papers said.

They quoted Riyadh airport manager Khaled al Mezaal as saying the body had been kept at a hospital morgue in Dammam and the British embassy had been informed in case it requests an autopsy to determine the cause of the death of the passenger, whose age was not mentioned.
