Camel sold for almost a million dollars in Saudi

A camel has fetched SR three million ($800,000) in Saudi Arabia, one of the highest price paid for the desert animal in the Gulf Kingdom, the Saudi Arabic language daily Sharq reported on Thursday.

The whitish male camel, named Nomas, is of a rare breed and was sold this week during a camel festival east of the central town of Taif, the paper said.

“Nomas fetched one of the highest prices paid for a camel in east and north Saudi Arabia…camel prices have sharply increased over the past few years and some of them have fetched over SR15 million,” it said.
