Car theft takes dramatic turn: Thief and owner meet in hospital
A car theft in Saudi Arabia took a staggering turn that could happen only in movies when the vehicle’s teen age owner and the thief, also a teen, met at the same hospital two hours later — the owner was injured and the thief was killed in a road accident.
Stalking a fresh victim in the central province of Al Qasseem, the unnamed thief had apparently thought it was his lucky day when he spotted a parked car in operation without its driver. He surely had not known he would die on that same lucky day.
He looked sideways to make sure he was not watched before he jumped into the car and started to drive away. Suddenly another teen ager aged around 16 years old lunged forward and clung to the driver’s door to stop the thief from taking his vehicle.
“The thief pushed the car owner away, causing him to hit the ground and injure his head…he was rushed to hospital with light head injuries,” Ajel daily said.
“Two hours later, the injured boy heard a noise in the emergency room, where he still lay. A stretcher was pushed in with a boy lying dead on it. After scrutinising the dead boy’s face, he quickly recognised him — his car thief. He was told by medical staff members that the boy was killed in a car accident.”
