Dead Saudi woman buried in Sudan by mistake

A Saudi woman awaiting burial in the Gulf kingdom was taken to Sudan and buried there, mistaken for a Sudanese woman who died in Oman. A few days later, the body was exhumed and returned to Saudi Arabia.

In a report from Riyadh on Sunday, the Saudi Arabic language daily Sabq said the 31-year-old Sudanese woman who died in Oman was flown by relatives to the Saudi capital, where the body was to be taken to Sudan.

“Instead, the body of a Saudi woman was flown to Sudan by mistake…she was buried there but her relatives later demanded her body back,” it said.

“Sudanese authorities exhumed the body of the Saudi woman last Wednesday and sent it back to Riyadh, where relatives received it…they intend to bury the body in Riyadh on Friday.”
