An Arab electronic dealer who had bought stolen products from two child thieves for low prices in Saudi Arabia found out that he had also bought his own item, the Saudi Arabic language daily Al Youm reported on Thursday.
The two nine-year-old children were “specialised” in smashing car windows in the eastern Red Sea port of Jeddah to steal tape recorders and other electronic items to sell them for a “very” low price to that dealer, it said.
After being caught, the children told police that they had sold all the products they had stolen for several months to the Arab dealer.
“They also confessed to stealing the tape recorder from the dealer’s car after they learned where he lives,” the paper said. “They told police that they also sold that recorder to the dealer himself but he did not realise it was his own recorder. When asked by police, the dealer told them he has just noticed that the recorder was stolen from his car.”
The paper said the two children were still under investigation at a rehabilitation centre while the dealer was arrested and his shop shut.
