Donation of genital organs 'not permissible'

Muslims are allowed to donate their body organs to patients except their genital organs since they are classified as genetic organs, a senior Saudi Islamic scholar has said.

“Donation of organs is permissible in Islam provided the donor is not harmed by this donation,” said Sheikh Abdullah Al Mutlaq, a member of the seven-man supreme scholars authority and an adviser at the Saudi Royal Court.

“Donation is permitted by the living person to a patient or by a dead person to a living one……only the donation of genital organs is not permissible because they are classified as genetic organs,” he said during a lecture in the Eastern province on Wednesday, according to Arar newspaper.
