A Saudi falconer sold is bird for SR610,000 (Dh610,000) just a day after he captured the rare falcon during a hunting trip in the Gulf Kingdom.

Fahd Al Rifaei was on a desert safari near the Western port of Yanbu when he sighted the falcon and decided to capture it alive.

“He tracked the bird for two days until he succeeded in capturing it on Friday. He sold it to a Qatari falconer for SR610,000,” the Saudi daily 'Al Madina' said.

It said Rifaei sold the bird at the "falcon auction market" in Yanbu.
