Girl refuses to wed for being called 'chicken'

A Saudi girl changed her mind and refused to marry a man after his mother likened her to a chicken because of her slow walk.

The man had taken his mother to see the girl and formally request her marriage in line with tradition in the conservative Gulf Kingdom.

“When the girl entered the room where her would-be husband and his mother were waiting, the mother told her to hurry up,” Sada newspaper said in a report from the southern Saudi town of Sabya.

“She then said to her ‘why are you as slow as a chicken’….the girl was very angry and changed her mind about marrying that man.”
