Grand Mosque scholar breaks Ramadan fast with cleaners

A senior scholar in Saudi Arabia broke the protocol on Sunday and straddled down on the ground to have Iftar (Ramadan break fasting evening meal) with expatriate cleaners at the world’s largest mosque, newspapers reported on Monday.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al Sudais, chairman of the Masjid Al Haram (Grand Mosque) affairs, was pictured eating and chatting with the cleaners, mostly Asians.

“The workers were caught off guard when he came and sat among them for Iftar…Sheikh Sudais then addressed the workers and told them they have been chosen by God the Almighty to serve His Holy House,” Alsaudey daily said.
