Handicapped Saudi lives under power pole

A 20-year-old Saudi handicapped man has taken the base of a power pole as his shelter after he was thrown out by his father, triggering concern by authorities.

‘Sabq’ Arabic language newspaper said the man, who has hearing and speaking problems, has only a mattress and a motorcycle, which he uses to collect food cans from a nearby beach to feed himself.

“People who go to the beach see him sleeping there. Electricity officials have warned him to leave because it is dangerous to stay there,” Sabq said.

It said the governor for the Western Red Sea town of Al Qunfudah has instructed the concerned authorities to see the man and solve his problem.
