A Saudi passenger aircraft flying from India to the Gulf kingdom changed route and made an emergency landing in Oman after a six-month-old boy fell ill mid-air.

The Boeing jet, owned by the official carrier Saudia, was en route from the Southwestern Indian city of Kochi to the Saudi capital Riyadh on Wednesday when the baby suffered from breathing difficulties.

“The pilot decided to change route and land in Muscat, Oman, to secure urgent treatment for the baby,” the Saudi daily ‘Sabq’ said, quoting Abdul Rahman Al Fadhd, Saudi’s assistant general manager for public relations.
