Kuwait puts on largest-ever fireworks display in the world

The largest-ever fireworks display in the world was put on in Kuwait City on Saturday during celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the emirate’s constitution.

Saturday’s display of 77,282 fireworks, recognised by Guinness World Records, outdid the previous record of 60,000. The fireworks lasted one hour. The display was fired from 251 pontoons and boats in the sea.

Over two million people watched the pyromusical and multimedia show along 5km of seafront which included parades with flying fish, projections on sails and cubes of light rising from the sea, airplanes with fiery wings and kites in the shape of falcons.

Over 300 technicians, thousands of tons of material, aircraft, cargo ships and containers arrived from all over the world to organise the show.

Saturday’s fireworks show was organised by Filmmaster MEA and Parente Fireworks.
