Kuwaiti policeman gets life for raping maid

A Kuwaiti court sentenced a local policeman for life in prison after he was convicted of raping an absconding Indonesian housemaid, the Kuwaiti Arabic language newspaper Alanba reported on Tuesday.

The maid was walking in a public place in Kuwait City when she was stopped by the policeman, who asked for her identity papers, it said.

“When she told him she has absconded from her sponsor, he asked her to get in the car to take her to the police centre…instead, he took her to his apartment and raped her before taking her back to the same place,” the paper said.

It said his colleague who was with him when they picked the maid testified in court about the incident.
