Man found dead on Mount Arafat

Saudi authorities have stumbled across a tied body of a dead Asian man on Mount Arafat, where millions of Muslims converge every year for their pilgrimage, the Saudi Arabic language daily Almadina said on Tuesday.

The body was tied up by the hands and legs and examination showed the man, in his 30s, had been beaten up before his death, the paper said.

“The body was dumped in a grassy area belonging to a Saudi company…investigation is under way to reach the killer,” it said, quoting Major Abdul Mohsen Al-Miman, Makkah police spokesman.

Nearly 2.7 million Muslims from Saudi Arabia and other countries performed their annual pilgrimage in Makkah in mid November.
