Man kills wife, assaults lover

A Mauritanian man who ran berserk after catching his wife and her lover red-handed at his home used a kitchen knife to kill her and cut the man’s genitals off.

Newspapers said the man attacked his wife, in her 20s, and her boyfriend in bed before fleeing the neighbourhood in the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott.

Neighbours attracted by the boyfriend’s screams rushed him to hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit amidst tight security, they said, adding that police had mounted a manhunt to find the husband.
