Man, son killed after 300-metre car fall

An Omani man and his son were killed after their car swerved off the road in a mountainous area and plunged nearly 300 metres into a valley, newspapers in the Gulf country reported on Monday.

The unnamed man was driving his car on his way back home with his son in Qariyat, around 100km southeast of Muscat, when he lost control of the vehicle and plunged into the abyss, they said.

The car was split into two while civil defence helicopters plucked the two dead bodies.
