Man tries to commit suicide at Grand Mosque

A man performing Umra (mini pilgrimage) in Saudi Arabia poured petrol on his body and set himself on fire just after finishing Friday evening prayers at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

Stunned pilgrims jumped on the man and put out the fire before calling an ambulance to the holy city, Alsaudi Arabic language daily said.

The unnamed man was rushed to hospital in a serious condition and some pilgrims said they believe he was suffering from mental problems.
