Man tries to commit suicide near court

A Saudi man poured petrol on his head and tried to set himself on fire in front of a court in the Gulf Kingdom after losing a property case against the government, Almadina daily reported on Tuesday.

Police and passers-by managed to control the man, in his 50s, and rushed him to hospital in the western Red Sea port of Jeddah.

The man, in his 50s, lost a case against a government department in the southern province of Baha for land ownership.

“He was not harmed after the court police and other people overpowered him before burning himself…police later detained him for investigation,” the paper said.
