A Saudi mother of six died just a day after undergoing an operation to remove excess fat from the abdomen in a bid to reduce her heavy weight.
The woman had visited a public hospital for the operation but she was rejected on the grounds she is suffering from asthma.
She then went to a private hospital in the eastern province of Ihsa and paid SR17,000 (Dh16,500) for the operation.
“On the next day, she died and doctors said she suffered from a failure in the blood circulation and respiratory system,” her brother Saleh al Rumaih said, quoted by Sharq Arabic language daily.
“She left six children behind…it is the fault of that hospital and I appeal for the Minister of Health to order an investigation into this case.”
