No room for child with heart on right side
A Saudi baby born recently with his heart on the right side is lying at a medical centre in serious condition after he was denied bed at a specialized cardiology hospital in the Gulf Kingdom, a newspaper said on Monday.
The father of the new born baby said he had contacted officials at the Prince Sultan Heart Hospital to take his child in and save his life but they told him there is no vacant bed, Sabq Arabic language daily reported.
Doctors at a Saudi army hospital in the northeastern town of Hafr Al Batin told the father his baby needs to be transferred urgently to Prince Sultan Hospital in the capital Riyadh given his serious condition.
“They apologized for not being able to take in my baby on the grounds they have no vacant beds,” the unnamed father said.
“I appeal for all officials in the country to help my son, who was born with his heart on the right side and needs urgent transfer to the capital.”
