Old man robbed of fortune, kicked out of home… by his sons

Abdullah Al Dousari of Saudi Arabia spent most of his life making money by raising sheep and selling scrap until he was able to save nearly SR800,000 (Dh790,000) and have a large herd of livestock. When he retired and reached 88 years of age, his five sons seized all his assets and kicked him out of his own house.

What underscores the ageing man’s tragedy is that his sons had the law on their side, with the court in the central town of Wadi Al Dawasir giving them a free hand in their father’s assets, apparently not realising he would be thrown out.

In their law suit, the five adult sons claimed their father has become insane because of old age and that they were worried he would waste all his money.

After spending four months jumping from one hospital to another at court orders, Dousari was told by the judge that his sons must be in charge of his funds. Once that verdict was issued, the father tried to rebuke his sons, prompting them to kick him out.

“They threw me out of my house at this age, I don’t know where to go, where to stay and where to eat. They said I am insane, stole my sheep, my scrap and my money, then kicked me out of my own house,” Dousari told Sharq newspaper.

“They dragged me inside hospitals for four months, claiming I am mentally sick. They took advantage of my weakness and old age. Simply, my sons have decided to inherit me while I am still alive and enjoying good health.”

The paper said Dousari, who now spends most of time at mosques and in the street, is appealing for authorities to help restore justice to him.
