Old woman on way to mosque falls in hole

An ageing Saudi woman fell into a three-metre-deep manhole while on her way to a nearby mosque to perform evening prayers.

The woman’s screams attracted residents, who called the police after failing to pull her out of the pit in the Western town of Taif.

Sabq newspaper said police and civil defence men managed to rescue the woman and take her to hospital for treatment of medium injuries.
