Prisoner drops dead on release from jail

An Egyptian prisoner dropped dead after a court judge acquitted him and ordered his immediate release from jail, newspapers reported on Friday.

The man had been imprisoned on charges of involvement in a scuffle in his neighbourhood in the capital Cairo.

“When the judge ordered his release, he was so delighted that he had a heart attack and dropped dead,” a police spokesman said, quoted by local newspapers.
