The auction is expected to attract large sums of money

Rare sheep pageantry auction opens in Saudi

Farmers and businessmen from Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries gathered in the Gulf kingdom on Saturday for one of the biggest sheep pageantry and action in the region, newspapers in the world’s largest oil exporter reported.

The event involves only rare and beautiful male and female sheep and is being held at the livestock auction centre in the Western Saudi town of Taif.

Ajel newspaper quoted the event’s organiser Mashaal Al Zahrani as saying it is one of the largest sheep auctions held in the Middle East.

Zahrani said he expected the auction to attract large sums of money, adding that one sheep fetched SR410,000 (Dh410,000) at a similar action two years ago.
