Saudi boy fall to death off 'Skulls Mountain'

A 14-year-old Saudi boy was killed after plunging down nearly two kms from the top of a hill called the 'Skulls Mountain' in the Gulf Kingdom.

The boy was walking on the top of the mountain in the southern Saudi town of Tuhama with his friend when he slipped and lost his balance. His friend tried to grab him but both plunged down into the valley.

Civil defence armed with helicopters spent nearly two hours to locate the two and used ropes and other equipment to lift them out of the valley.

Newspapers said the boy was dead while his friend suffered from injuries and was taken to hospital.

Saudi boy killed by fireworks

A 10-year-old Saudi boy was killed when a bundle of fireworks exploded in him after he lit it near his house during Eid holidays, a newspaper reported on Monday.

The boy lighted the bundle just outside his house in the western town of Taif and ran away but it did not work, Sabq said.

“When he returned to the bundle to check, it exploded and inflicted injuries all over his body and face…the boy died moments later,” it said.

It was the second incident of its kind in Saudi Arabia during Eid Al Fitr. A 17-year-old Afghan boy was killed after his brain was blasted off by fireworks in that city on Friday.
