Saudi boy to get 100 lashes for using a pistol

A Saudi teenager, found guilty of using a gun during a fight, will be lashed 100 times, the Saudi daily 'Al Jazeira' reported on Sunday.

The boy fired a shot in air from a pistol during a fight with citizens in the central town of Barida. However, no one was injured.

The court found him guilty of causing a quarrel and illegally possessing a pistol but left the door open for a reduced sentence.

“His jail term could be reduced to five months if he shows repentance and memorises some parts of the Holy Quran,” the paper quoted Judge Ibrahim Al Qafari as saying.
