Saudi couple in 50-metre car fall

A Saudi man and his wife escaped with injuries after their car plunged nearly 50 metres into an abyss in the Gulf Kingdom, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The man was driving for a picnic with his wife in a rugged area near the western Saudi town of Taif when the vehicle slid and plunged into the valley.

Ajel newspaper said rescuers managed to reach the car and pull out the two, who were taken to hospital with severe injuries.
