Saudi girl banned from marrying Muslim Briton

A Saudi court has issued a sentence banning a local girl from marrying a British Muslim man at her family’s request, prompting the girl to appeal the verdict.

The unnamed girl, a teacher at a local college, rejected the sentence and appealed with another court in the Western Saudi town of Makkah.

According to 'Al Madina' newspaper, her relatives said they refused her marriage on the grounds the British engineer “does not match her tribal origin.”

“The court of appeals is considering a plea submitted by the girl objecting to the previous sentence, which was issued at her family’s request,” the paper said.
