Saudi girl child dies after swallowing ring

A little Saudi girl died in hospital after doctors failed to pull out a ring she had accidentally swallowed at her home in the Gulf kingdom.

Doctors said the ring was stuck in the middle of her pharynx and that the child, Solaf, died after her heart and breathing system stopped.

‘Okaz’ newspaper said the child’s father Hadi bin Hannan accused the supervising doctor of negligence and refused to take her body before that doctor is punished.

“Bin Hannan is demanding investigation into the incident and punishment of the doctor for his failure to extract the ring,” the paper said in a report from the southern Saudi town of Najran.
