Saudi nurse gets Dh50,000 for a slap

An expatriate nurse in Saudi Arabia was paid SR50,000 (Dh50,000) after she agreed to drop a case against a local man who slapped her in front of the hospital staff.
 
A court in the Southern Jazan province gave the 39-year-old a deadline for an out-of-court settlement or he would be jailed for two years.
 
“He offered a compensation of SR50,000 and the nurse agreed to drop the case,” the Arabic language daily ‘Al Watan’ said without identifying the nurse.
