Saudi authorities are investigating how a doll made for children found its way into the Gulf kingdom although it is fitted with plastic male genitals in violation of local laws, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

The ministry of commerce said it opened an investigation after it received the doll from a Saudi man who said he bought it from a local shop.

Abdul Aziz Al Shammari said he was surprised when his four-year-old daughter was embarrassed to look at the doll and kept saying “shame…shame…” before throwing away the doll he had bought her from a shop in the Saudi capital Riyadh.

“When I looked at the doll, I felt really very angry..…its parts include plastic male genitals…how can they make such dolls for little kids and how was it allowed into the country…I gave the doll to the ministry of commerce which opened an investigation,” Shammari said, quoted by Sabq Arabic language daily.

“I asked the authorities to question and punish that shop for selling such dolls…I am sure this doll is in the market in large quantities and I am surprised how it found its way into the country.”
