Saudi authorities evicted an old girls secondary school for fear of collapse and moved its students to a temporary location pending the completion of examination of the building, Ajel newspaper reported on Saturday.

The authorities in the central town of Al-Quwaya acted after receiving a report by experts that the 30-year-old school building is in danger of collapse, it said.

“It was a precautionary measures aimed at guaranteeing the safety and protecting the lives of the school girls,” the paper quoted Saad Al Nafeei, Director of the town’s Educational Department, as saying.

“We are waiting for results of the examination of the building…if we find that it is not suitable, then we will rent a building to be their school.”
