Saudi shuts down three 'dirty hands' restaurants

Saudi authorities shut down three restaurants for massive violations of health rules involving dirty hands and long nails by cooks.

Health inspectors were shocked by the extent of hygienic violations at the three restaurants in the southwestern town of Balqaran, Okaz newspaper said.

“They found that the cooks and other workers have dirty hands and long nails…they also did not cover their hair while cooking while the kitchen looked dirty and there were many flies,” the paper said.

“The inspectors also noticed that salt and spice boxes were not closed, most kitchen tools were dirty and the cooks were using old oil in making food.”
