Students from Saudi Arabia who study in Bahrain have returned home following the closure of most universities in the Gulf island because of recent unrest, the Saudi ambassador in Bahrain was reported on Monday as saying.
Around 200 Saudi students were taken by buses provided by their country’s embassy in Manama on Sunday and sent back home across King Fahd Causeway, which links the two Gulf countries.
“The remaining Saudi students left Bahrain by their own cars or with their relatives who have come to take them,” the ambassador Abdul Mohsen Al Mubarak told the Saudi Arabic language daily 'Alwatan'.
The paper said nearly 3,000 Saudi students study in Bahrain’s universities.
