Saudi swims to Bahrain: Jailed for illegal entry
A Bahraini court sentenced a Saudi man to six months in jail after he was caught swimming illegally into the country, newspapers reported on Wednesday.
The unnamed man told police he was driving to Bahrain on the 25-km causeway linking the two Gulf countries when he remember that he did not have his passport.
Newspapers said the man then parked his car near the bridge and jumped into the Gulf water, where he swam into the tiny island nation.
“He was caught by coast guard as he was just trying to enter Bahrain.
“He also had alcohol before he sneaked in,” Almuwatin daily said, adding that the court also ordered his deportation.
