Saudi teachers warned against beating students
Saudi Arabia has issued a tough warning to teachers at its schools not to beat students, saying offenders would be immediately moved to another job, newspapers in the Gulf Kingdom reported on Monday.
The Ministry of Education said any sort of corporal punishment of students is strictly banned at all schools and gave local education authorities the powers to stop any teacher who violates that rule, the newspapers said.
“The education chief in all provinces and cities now have the authority to stop any teacher proved to have used violence against students and to move him to an administrative job,” the ministry said in a statement, which followed a surge in incidents involving beating of students by teachers.
