Saudi teen tries to end life to keep farm

A 14-year-old Saudi boy climbed up to the roof of a 25-metre-high water tank and threatened to jump down if the government goes ahead and seizes their farm.

The boy was at home in the family’s farm in the western town of Qaryat when a government committee came and notified them of the seizure.

“The boy rushed to the top of the tank and threatened to jump down unless the committee leaves their home…police and civil defence rushed to the area and persuaded him to come down,” Okaz daily said.

It did not make clear if the boy’s suicide threat paid off.
