The Directorate of Traffic and Patrols has urged motorists to slow down at traffic signals, especially before the Iftar time.
This will minimise motorists jumping red lights and causing danger while rushing home to catch up for iftar, said Col Hamad Mubarak Al Amiri, Director of Capital traffic at the Abu Dhabi Police.
From the first day of Ramadan, the police began distributing food packets and drinking water on the roads to help motorists break their fast at sunset.
In association with Khalifa Bin Zayed Chairity Foundation the drive was made possible which aims at reducing the traffic at late hours.
Al Amiri has asked the motorists to slowdown as soon as the green light changes to yellow to avoid colliding into vehicles coming from other directions.
