Passengers aboard a Manila-bound Qatar Airways flight had to receive medical attention when the aircraft hit turbulence 40 minutes prior to landing on September 5.

Media agencies in the Philippines have stated 40 passengers and crew members were injured when Qatar Airways flight 932 hit a downward draft, en route to the capital’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Several passengers were reportedly not wearing seatbelts when the Boeing 777-300 aircraft hit turbulence.

“Qatar Airways flight 932, Doha-Manila experienced turbulence approximately 40 minutes prior to landing at Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at 15.37 hours (local time) on 5 September 2015,” the Doha-based carrier confirmed in a statement to Emirates 24|7.

“The flight landed safely and Qatar Airways had organised medical assistance to meet the flight. Immediate medical care and assistance was provided upon the aircraft’s safe landing. Of those reporting injury, three were sent to the hospital for further evaluation,” the statement added.

The airline stated those sent to the hospital were discharged on Sunday night after being provided the necessary medical assistance.

Qatar Airways further added it is in touch with affected passengers and crew, “and are ready to provide any further assistance required".

The airline did not confirm how many passengers and crew members were injured aboard the flight.
