Teen tries to end life, mom blames 'jinn'

A 17-year-old Pakistani girl in Sharjah slashed her veins and took a large amount of pills in a bid to end her life. Her mother blamed jinn (spirits) for the ordeal.

Police and medics rushed to the girl’s house in Ghafia after her mother reported that she had used a kitchen knife to slash her veins after taking a large quantity of pain-killers to commit suicide.

The girl was rushed to hospital in a bad condition but doctors managed to save her life, according to the Dubai-based Emarat Al Youm daily.

“The mother told police that her daughter is suffering from psychological problems and that she believes she is controlled by jinn.”
