‘Temporary marriage’ is adultery: Saudi scholar
A prominent Saudi Islamic scholar has slammed temporary marriage, saying it amounts to adultery.
Sheikh Khaled Al Musleh, a regular speaker on the Saudi religious satellite TV channel Al Majd, said such type of marriage was widespread before Islam.
He said that under such marriages, known in Arabic as “Nikah Al Mut’ah, a man weds a woman and gives her money in exchange for pleasures.
“In the beginning, this kind of marriage was approved by Islam…but it was later prohibited by the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him)…this means such a type of marriage is prohibited as it amounts to adultery,” he said, quoted by the Saudi daily Arar.
