Third of Saudi women 'spinsters'

Nearly a third of Saudi Arabia women have not married although they have exceeded 30 years of age, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

‘Makkah’ Arabic language daily estimated there are nearly 4.6 million adult women in the Gulf Kingdom of nearly 30 million people.

It cited figures by Weaam family care association showing that more than 1.5 million of the women have not married yet although they are above 30 years old.

“This figure accounts for nearly 33.4 per cent of the total adult women in Saudi Arabia. Ahis means that nearly a third of the Kingdom’s women are spinsters,” it said.
