'Twitter' pimp held in Saudi

Published

Saudi Arabia’s religious police arrested a Syrian man found to be involved in pimping on his Twitter page, a newspaper reported on Monday.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice tracked the man and seized him at his apartment in the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah after publishing photographs of scores of women in “obscene” position, the Arabic language daily Sada said, citing Commission sources.

“He posed as a man who is seeking friendship and was publishing pictures of women in obscene position claiming they are his relatives,” it said.

“He managed to attract a large number of customers. Police searching his flat found obscene pictures and films, sexual items and large sums of money.”

Speed exposes driver’s criminal intentions

Kuwaiti police patrolling a motorway in the oil-rich Gulf emirate chased a car travelling as fast as 265kph and asked its defiant driver to stop.

The 19-year-old Kuwaiti motorist refused their request and kept his leg on the accelerator, prompting the patrol to call for back up. When they finally seized him, they were surprised to find that he has a cleaver.

“They were more surprised when he told them he was driving fast and carrying the cleaver because he was going to kill his girl-friend after an argument over the phone,” the Arabic language daily Al Watan said.
