The UAE on Friday sent humanitarian aid convoy to the Libyan people through Saloom Crossing at the Egyptian-Libyan Borders.

The relief aid was donated by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment and Dubai Islamic Foundation of Dubai Islamic Bank.

Advisor Ibrahim Bu Melha, Director-General of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment, said the convoy composed of 40 trucks, each truck carried between 28-30 tonnes of food.

Delivering the humanitarian aid to the Libyan charity organisations at Saloom, Bu Melha said the dispatch of humanitarian aid to the Libyan people comes in line with directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

He added that "we had assessed the needs of the Libyan people before the humanitarian aid was sent to them".
