An unknown man paid a SR300 (Dh300) traffic fine for a Saudi policeman hours after the border cop complained in the press that he was issued a speeding ticket in an area he had never visited, a newspaper reported on Thursday.
Mohammed Al Malki, a police man in the Southern Jazan province near the border with Yemen, said he received an alert on his mobile phone that he was fined SR300 (Dh300) for speeding in the Western town of Makkah.
He said that his car had never been to that city and that the traffic department had refused to cancel the fine.
“A benevolent man announced that he paid the traffic fine for the policeman and also decided to give him SR5,000 (Dh5,000)....he said that this is the least thing he could do for a security man stationed at our border,” Sabq newspaper said.
