Woman delivers boy… husband given girl
A Saudi man’s delight that his wife gave birth to a boy was short lived when he was called by the hospital a week later to tell him it was not a boy but a handicapped girl.
Hadi Al Fateeh said he decided to name his new son Salim after he was told by doctors that his wife had given birth to a baby boy in a Cesarean operation.
Doctors at the hospital in the southern Najran town then told him they would keep the baby at hospital for a week under medical supervision while his wife was discharged.
“A week later, the hospital called me to say it was not a boy but a handicapped girl…of course I was shocked and rejected their claims,” he told Sabq newspaper.
“I will not be given a handicapped girl…I want my son Salim…I have reported their games and lies to the health department.”
The paper quoted the department’s director Saleh Al Munes as saying he had received Fateeh’s complaint and that he had ordered a probe into the incident.
