A Saudi woman is offering her kidney for sale to help her sick mother and brother, who she said could end up homeless after they could no longer pay rent.
Umm Ahmed said her mother has undergone a surgery to remove a tumor in her head while her married brother is jobless because of mental problems.
“Umm Ahmed said her mother, brother and his children could become homeless after the landlord threatened to kick them out after they were unable to pay rent,” the online Saudi Arabic language daily Al Weam said.
“She is now offering a kidney for sale to get money so she can have her brother treated and pay rent for her mother,” the added without mentioning where in Saudi Arabia the family lives.
African vice den busted
Saudi Arabia’s religious police arrested 17 African men and women on charges of indulging in prostitution during a raid on their houses in the Gulf Kingdom.
Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice had watched the four suspected houses in the southern town of Khamis Mushait for nearly two weeks before raiding them with the help of other police units.
Al Sharq newspaper said police arrested eight women and nine African men during the raid, which also resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of contraceptive pills.
