Womb removed from 35-year-old man’s belly

Saudi doctors successfully removed a womb that had grown inside the abdomen of a Filipino man and caused him severe pains, a newspaper said on Sunday.

The 35-old man, who is married and has children, had visited several hospitals in the Gulf Kingdom but most of them failed to diagnose his condition, the Arabic language daily Sqbq said in a report from Riyadh.

“Scanning showed there is a full womb with fallopian tubes…we detected bleeding inside the abdomen as menstrual blood had accumulated inside the uterus…this is a very rare case that happens to one in every one million men,” the paper said, quoting Dr Mohammed Mohsen, a surgeon at Azhar hospital.

He said the unnamed man started to feel pain after his uterus was ruptured by the accumulation of blood inside it.
