Worker escapes fall from Saudi-Bahrain causeway

An Indian worker fell off the 25-km causeway linking Saudi Arabia with Bahrain but was plucked out of the water safe by Saudi coast guard units, a newspaper reported on Thursday.

The worker was doing electric work on the bridge, dubbed King Fahd Causeway, when he lost balance and fell down into the water.

“Strong currents pushed him more than two km away from the bridge but he was saved by coast guard divers,” the Saudi Arabic language daily Okaz said, adding that the man was given first aid on the spot.
